Kosuke Hagino secures Men’s 200m IM crown: FINA World Junior Championships - Day two
Day two of the 2011 FINA World Junior Championships got off to a riveting start with the immaculate splashes of Kosuke Hagino and Lia Neal in Lima, Peru, on Wednesday, August 17. The session of the meet conducted the Men’s 200m IM final and Women’s 100m
freestyle semi-final heats.
Firstly, the Men’s 200m Individual Medley crown was captured by Japan’s Kosuke Hagino with a winning mark of 2 minutes and 00.90 seconds. After the heat, Hagino was pleased with his splash in the final meet. Andreas Vazaios of Greece snared silver medal
on the podium by posting a stunning time of 2 minutes and 01.64 seconds, while Maksym Shemberev of Ukraine earned bronze medal of the platform by submitting an impressive time of 2 minutes and 02.37 seconds.
In the corresponding race, Chase Kalisz of United States earned fourth spot in a time of 2 minutes and 02.69 seconds, whereas, Josh Prenot of USA wound up fifth with a mark of 2 minutes and 02.78 seconds.
Dylan Bosch of South Africa earned sixth place honours with a time of 2 minutes and 03.06 seconds, while Gomez Solaeche of Spain finished seventh in a time of 2 minutes and 03.21 seconds. s***n Makovich of Russia was placed eighth in a time of 2 minutes
and 04.49 seconds.
Meanwhile, the Women’s 100m freestyle semi-final heat was clinched by Lia Neal of United States of America with a winning mark of 55.18 seconds. Bronte Campbell of Australia was placed second with a sterling time of 55.47 seconds, while Simone Manuel of
United States of America earned third place honours with a mark of 56.08 seconds. In the corresponding meet, Canada’s Landeghem Van was placed fourth with a time of 56.11 seconds and Jessica Lloyd of Great Britain finished fifth in a time of 56.31 seconds.
Alexandra Wenk of Germany was placed sixth with a mark of 56.38 seconds, while Brianna Throssell of Australia wound up seventh in a time of 56.48 seconds. Mao Kawakami of Japan earned eighth place honours in a time of 56.56 seconds. In the corresponding
heat, Giada Trentin of Italy wound up ninth in a time of 56.74 seconds. Last, but not the least, Nadiya Koba of Ukraine earned tenth position in the respective meet with a time of 56.79 seconds.
