Kosuke Kitajima pockets Men’s 200m breaststroke gold: Day five - Tatsumi International Pool, Tokyo
Kosuke Kitajima pocketed the crown of Men’s 200m breaststroke on fifth day of the Tatsumi International Pool in Tokyo, Japan on Friday, April 6.
The four-time Olympic champion, Kitajima went full throttle in the distant breaststroke event. With his astounding efforts, he proved his supremacy over his strongest challenger, Ryo Tateishi and hit the wall for gold medal.
Kitajima acquired gold medal of the 200m discipline with a wonderful timing of 2 minutes and 08.00 seconds. His gold winning effort was chased by Tateishi, who occupied silver medal of the discipline by posting a time of 2 minutes and 08.17 seconds.
Tateishi was followed by Akihiro Yamaguchi, who remained significantly slower from the silver medallist and emerged on the finishing end by posting an effort of 2 minutes and 09.70 seconds for bronze medal.
The third fastest swimmer was chased by Kazuki Ohtsuka, who stayed 1.15 seconds behind and concluded his swim in fourth fastest place by producing a time of 2 minutes and 10.85 seconds for fourth position.
The fifth position of the discipline was secured by Yukihiro Takahashi, who remained nearly half body length behind his former finisher and posted a time of 2 minutes and 11.54 seconds for fifth position.
Takahashi was followed by Naoya Tomita, who stayed 0.22 seconds behind and transpired on the wall as sixth best finisher with the timing of 2 minutes and 11.76 seconds.
Tomita remained in a comfortable lead over his following swimmer, Yuuki Satou, who failed to substantiate his place for sixth position and occupied seventh position of the discipline.
Satou remained almost one body length slower from his former finisher and posted a time of 2 minutes and 12.51 seconds.
He was followed by Keisuke Matsushima, who remained nearly two seconds slower from his former finisher and ended his swim in eighth place by touching the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 14.08 seconds.
In addition, the session ended after the conclusion of all planned events, while the podium finishers were invited on the victory stand for their notable efforts at prize distribution ceremony of the session.
