Will this help or hurt there play-off chances, now I know you are wondering why a new player would hurt, but he might not produce because t is hard to make a NL to AL league change because the AL has better pitching. And they lost J.D. Drew.

I think they won't make the Play- offs and the losers of Central will take Wild Card.

  1. Steinbrenner used the injury excuse as to why the Yankees are having an Un Yankee type of season. And while they have been banged up, other teams have been run down by injuries as well. The Red Sox have certainly had their share of injuries also, and there have been a lot of them. But their still playing well despite that, while the Yankees have tried to claim that they've been the most injured team in history. There are other reasons why they have not had the kind of year we are used to seeing the Yankees have. But it seems they want everyone to believe the injuries are the ONLY reason. It doesn't surprise me that they cant admit that their just not playing as well as they could be. The Sox have been hit hard by the injury bug as well.

But back to the question. Adding Mark Kotsay is a good thing that can only be a positive, since he adds some insurance to an outfield which features 2 guys (Ellsbury and Crisp) who are at times mediocre at the plate and aside from Bay, who is simply a very good, reliable player, we all know about the injury machine JD Drew. He may see limited playing time but he will provide some help off the bench and I think he'll help the Red Sox make just enough of a push to make the playoffs. The pitching is my top concern with this team.

  2. Why do the Red Sox need yet another Center Fielder? And BTW Mark Kotsay was already an AL player before he was traded to the Braves this off-season.

But anyway, I think it may help them. Its always good to have that extra man on the bench who can come in late in the game and work something out for your team.

  3. I really don't think this hurts their chances. Adding players cannot possibly hurt your chances. Even if someone sucks, there's a chance they could be good while they play.

  4. No. You don't need two center fielders. It's just like the 1964 Reds who had 4 first basemens(excellent hitters) but didnt know what to do so they had a 1st basemen play right field, on playing 3rd base, and the other one atching. Horrible defense.

  5. The are going to make the play-offs.  Adding Kotsay to the roster will help a bit.  The lineup is getting pretty thin with injury.  If only he cold go an inning or two from the bullpen.

  6. Doesn't help a lot but I guess it adds another player to a stellar lineup.

  7. Its beacuse Jd drew went on th d.l  and yes he will help
