Kousuke Hagino captures Men’s 400m IM gold: Day one - Tatsumi International Pool, Tokyo
Kousuke Hagino captured gold medal of the Men’s 400m Individual Medley (IM) on day one of the Tatsumi International Pool in Tokyo, Japan on Monday, April 2.
Hagino, who qualified into the final as top contender for gold medal, lived up to the expectations of his fans by smothering his challengers over the finishing blockade for gold medal.
He stunned the arena with his stupendous effort as he not only captured gold medal of the discipline but also lowered the national record of the discipline. Hagino remained almost 1.50 seconds under the previous mark of 4 minutes and 11.98 seconds, as he
tapped the finishing end with the timing of 4 minutes and 10.26 seconds.
His gold winning effort remained 0.26 seconds ahead of Yuuya Horihata, who followed him on the victory stand for silver medal by clocking an effort of 4 minutes and 10.52 seconds.
He was followed by Daiya Seto, who remained nearly two seconds slower from his preceding swimmer and touched the wall with the timing of 4 minutes and 12.66 seconds for bronze medal.
The fourth finest spot of the race was obtained by Yousuke Mori, who suffered a loss of almost five seconds from his preceding swimmer and posted a time of 4 minutes and 17.43 seconds.
In the meantime, Fumiya Hidaka acquired gold medal of the Men’s 400m freestyle. Hidaka remained in a lead of more than one body length from his strongest competitor and clocked a time of 3 minutes and 48.21 seconds for gold medal.
He was trailed by Youhei Takiguchi, who stepped on the victory stand for silver medal by producing an effort of 3 minutes and 50.18 seconds.
The silver medallist was chased by Yousuke Miyamoto, who was only 0.16 seconds behind and secured bronze medal of the event with the timing of 3 minutes and 50.34 seconds.
Syo Uchida snared fourth position of the discipline as he hit the wall with an effort of 3 minutes and 50.83 seconds.
Furthermore, the crowd acknowledged wonderful efforts of all swimmers while the podium finishers received medals at prize ceremony of the championship.
