Radoslav Kovac is likely to make an emotional return to Spartak Moscow after tasting life difficult in English Premier League and the Swiss Super League
The former Spartak Moscow defender, Radoslav Kovac, has shared his good memories during his stay at Luzhniki stadium in the Russian Premier League and has also talked about future plans.
Kovac, who is currently playing at the Swiss Super League club http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Basel-c39079 after leaving West Ham United during last year’s summer transfer window, cherished his past memories at the Moscow-based club, saying that he can never forget
about the glorious years in Russia.
The defensive powerhouse played alongside star players like http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nemanja-Vidic-c27550, Martin Jiranek and Yegor Titov, who remained at the Moscow-based club for massive 13 seasons.
Though Kovac failed to win a trophy during his stay with the Russian outfit, he helped the team in securing UEFA Champions League’s berth after claiming the 2nd spot in 2005/06, 2006/07, 2007/08 and 2009/10 respectively.
Kovac revealed that he want to relive the action in the derby matches and insisted that the Russian championship is becoming more competitive with the clubs like Rubin Kazan, CSKA Moscow and Zenit St. Petersburg challenging for
league titles.
“I cannot forget about the beautiful four years spent in Moscow. In terms of football it may have been the best years of my career. We had a great team! And I played with great players - Titov, Jiranek and Vidic. Actually it’s
a very long list.” The Swiss Cup winner was quoted as saying.
Commenting on Spartak recent defensive problems in the ongoing season, Kovac lamented his former club’s below par start to the league campaign and expressed his desire to help the Spartachi in near future.
“Of course, I am very worried about Spartak. I know that the team is playing badly. It would be great if I can help them. I have been playing for too long in abroad and I want to come back home. I will quit Basel next summer.”
He concluded.
As things stand, the Myaso are at the 5th spot on the league table after collecting 22 points from 13 games.
