Kraft Nabisco Championship to be played from March 26
Kraft Nabisco Championship is going to be played from March 26 to April 1, 2012, at Mission Hills, Rancho Mirage, CA, with a strong field featuring leading players on the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) Tour.
Before the tournament, there will be an inaugural Fresh & Easy Charity Pro-Am on March 25, which will see the participation of 10 LPGA Hall of Famers. The event is expected to spice up the major championship.
CEO of Fresh & Easy Neighbourhood Market, Tim Mason expressed his confidence in one of the most prestigious tournaments in women’s golf.
He said that charity pro-am will formally kick off the major event — Kraft Nabisco Championship.
“We are very excited to welcome back the LPGA greats for an exciting charity pro-am and pro-junior event to kick off tournament week,” Mason said.
He added, “We are honoured to celebrate the incredibly rich history of women’s golf at the Kraft Nabisco Championship while also providing an incredible opportunity for young female golfers to play with their idols and the game’s best”.
The tournament officials said LPGA Hall of Famers will be led by Amy Alcott. In addition to leading the team, Alcott is also one of the overseers of the tournament.
Speaking to the media, Alcott said the tournament is going to be played according to the schedule, as there is no room for complacency.
Alcott was hopeful to staging a tough battle, saying there are a number of battle-hardened players set to beat their rivals.
Executive Director and Chairman of Kraft Nabisco Championship, David Blake Thomas said the tournament has a long history of providing competitive and fun-filled matches.
He said that thanks to the involvement of top-ranked players, the event has gained immense popularity in golf fans.
He added that in addition to healthy competition, underdogs and lesser-known players can also gain popularity by proving their worth.
Speaking of the cooperation between Kraft Foods and Fresh & Easy, Thomas said that it is a good sign that the two leading chains have teamed up to promote golf across the world.
He stressed that young players are the major target of this event.
“This opportunity will provide young golfers a chance to experience playing with LPGA legends as well as providing a truly special event for our fans to see the legends of the past 40 years,” he stated.
