http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 will put up competitive first innings score on board – Cricket News Update
The rookie West Indian opener, Kraigg Brathwaite is hopeful his side would continue the good show on the day two of ongoing third and the final Test of the three-match series, underway at the Wankhede Stadium in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820, since November 22, 2011.
Brathwaite shared a three digit opening stand with fellow-opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AB-Barath-c886 to help the tourists get off to a steady start. He said that they are looking to play more attacking cricket on Wednesday, to set a formidable total in their first innings.
The Indian attack struggled against the West Indies batsmen on the batting friendly Wankhede track, as the tourists were 267 for 2 at sumps on day one. At the end of the day, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DM-Bravo-c1386 was
at the crease unbeaten on 57.
The 18-year-old Barbados batsman had his hopes attached with the well settled Edwards-Bravo duo.
"Yes, we lost two wickets, but we have two batsmen (Darren Bravo and Kirk Edwards) who are well set to come out tomorrow and dominate and get a good score," said the teenager while talking to the media reporters at the post-day press conference.
Talking about his 137-run opening partnership with Barath, the Barbadian said that they had decided to play cautious cricket at the start and avoid taking risks against the new ball.
"As openers, me and Barath decided we have to see off the first hour without losing any wicket. And we did that. We said we should press on, got a 50 partnership and then a hundred."
"When we came after lunch, we said we give the team the best possible start," he said.
Brathwaite, who scored a career-best 68 before being caught by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/V-Kohli-c2737 off Ashwin, said that their plan for the game is to keep the bat for the major part of second day and put up a competitive score on the board.
"Having elected to bat, we want to bat out the better part of two days and get a good score. In Kolkata, in the second innings we got a good score and we want to do that again," he said.
West Indies are currently trailing http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 0-2 in the three-match series and must be eager to at least draw the game to avoid a series whitewash.
