Yuri Krasnozhan believes that Kuban Krasnodar have much more in their ranks to be a successful Russian Premier League club in the near future
Kuban Krasnodar moved to the 5th spot on the Russian Premier League table after winning the latest league tie 1-0 against Lokomotiv Moscow at Lokomotiv stadium (Moscow) on Saturday.
The Krasnodar-based club played the match on the back of a 2-1 win over Terek Grozny at home.
In aftermath of the outcome, Yuri Krasnozhan has hailed his side’s character after the recent win, saying that the Russian outfit is getting better with every game and could become a successful club in the championship in the near
future if they keep improving.
“The game was not easy. It was necessary to simplify the game. Perhaps, you can still feel some uncertainty in our game. We struggled to restructure the game despite dominating the field for the opening thirty minutes of the game.
But I'm happy that my team showed character and patience.” The former Anzhi Makhachkala manager was quoted as saying.
The 49-year-old Russian coach, who replaced Dan Petrescu after signing a three-year contract at Kuban, praised the previous management and the former coach, saying that the Romanian tactician did enough for the development at Kuban
stadium.
“Previous coaching staff has done a lot for the development. I think this team is capable of winning trophies. I think this team is moving in the right direction. However, it will take time. It could be one day, one season, or
more than that.” He said
However, the former Spartak Nalchik man blamed the former management for selling their top striker, Lacina Traore, to the Dagestani club prior to his arrival this summer.
Krasnozhan, who resigned as Lokomotiv manager after found guilty in a match fixing scandal prior to his move to Krasnodar-based club, revealed that he wanted to win this game against his former club badly.
The fact that Kuban’s in-form midfielder, Vladislav Kulik, was not available for the match raised many eyebrows. Krasnozhan revealed that the former Krylia Sovetov Samara player is recovering from a muscle injury he sustained prior
to the match.
