How would you rank Krav Maga against other martial arts like karate or Muay Thai

In a straight fight where both people know the other guys style and that he is going to fight how is Krav Maga. Dose it have weaknesses that would make it vulnerable to say a good Muay Thai fighter or a good boxer or a Kung fu guy in a no suprise fighting situation. Though it is not a sport how would a well trained krav maga guy do in a mixed martial arts match or a fight club of some kind. Is there any reason you think a person that goes out looking for fights that are not suprises or jumpings but face to face , ok go fights (hypothetically, I don't do that it's to better answer my question) would not want to take Krav maga

  1. No Muay Thai is not going to beat Krav Maga and here's why.  First of all Muay Thai is a Asian "Boxing Sport" and Krav Maga is a "Military field expedient H2H combat system" so the likely hood of a Muay Thai sport fighter beating a all out serious life or death type of individual is at best slim to none.

Besides what's a Muay Thai Boxer going to do throw a shin bone kick, which DOES NOT extend his reach what so ever, and pray that the Krav Maga practitioner is going to let him get that close in the first place?

This is another "cartoon like question"

It's like asking can a kickboxer beat a pissed off drunk U.S. Marine?  My answer would be that the kickboxer is a early morning hang-over breakfast for the Marine obviously.  There's nothing like strips of kickboxer for bacon in the morning huh?

  2. krav maga was and is designed for self defense. i don't know if youv'e if had to defend your life or if youv'e ever been in a street fight or even an mma match. i will tell you that all three are very different. though i'm sure there are people that have never experiened all three and try to tell that they are the same. they are not. also look into vee arnis jitsu and pankration those arts as well as krav maga are among the most realistic.

  3. Well... this is not going to answer your question, but it really depends on the quality of the teacher, and the quality of the student... to put it simple.... I have a friend who is taking KM and when he shows me something he learned that is new to him, i will show him how i learned to handle if from TKD or Muay Thai, and the different variations of the move (if applicable).. the simple fact is all arts are taught using the same human body, and even though, all arts emphasize different aspects of fighting, if you stick with one style long enough, (if taught appropriately, for the right reasons) you will gain an emense amount of knowledge... now if you want to learn to fight for sport, then if you want to be great at MMA train MMA, if you want to win  TKD tournament.. train TKD... styles that are geared for competition, tend to gravitate towards winning within a set of rules, and while MMA started out with very few rules, it is evolving (and i dig it),.... but the "which style is better" question is dead... what ever you choose to learn, train hard, and have fun... good luck
