Krishnamachari Srikkanth hopeful of Team http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750’s comeback in Test series – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013, as he argues that the return of the senior players
like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Z-Khan-c98379 will give immense power and courage to the team in the remaining two Tests.
The Indians are in tatters both morally and physically after losing the first two matches of the series disgracefully. The visitors lost the 1st Test at Lord’s by 196 runs and 2nd at Trent Bridge by 319 runs.
In the backdrop of these two nerve-breaking defeats, Team India’s No 1 Test position is at stake as the English need to win just one more game to notch the title.
The 3rd Test of the series at Birmingham, on August 10, is going to be a make-or-break match for the Indians who are heavily banking on Sehwag and Gambhir in order to bounce back. However, Zaheer’s return is still in doubt as he is not fully fit
yet.
Talking to the media, Srikkanth said, “There are times when the team undergoes a lot of tough times and probably this particular series is the one like that where we have lost the first two Test matches. But, I'm confident that this team will come back.”
He also stated, “Don't forget that we have Sehwag, Gambhir and Zaheer back in the team. I think their experience will help us to fight back strongly and do well in the next two Test matches.”
With reference to the team’s history, he said that there had been such hard times in the past as well but the resilient Indians resurged surprisingly.
On the other hand, there are some analysts who opine that Sehwag and Gambhir are not likely to make any difference in the 3rd Test as the former has held the bat after a long interval and the latter seems to be out of form.
The Indians’ tour match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Northamptonshire-c824, on August 5,6, was an acid test of the two batsmen, and both failed, as Gambhir scored 18 and Sehwag made just 8.
