The new Swansea City manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-c25261 Laudrup has included Kristian O’Leary to his backroom staff as the youth team coach.
The 34-year-old former Swansea City midfielder has been with the clubs for almost two decades, having joined the youth academy in 1992. He parted ways with the Swans in 2010 to join Wrexham and shortly after, Neath. He began his managerial career at Neath
in 2011 as the caretaker manager.
He managed to lead the Welsh Premier League side to a third-place finish but due to financial difficulties the club failed to gain the domestic license because of which they were relegated. O’Leary now returns to Swansea City once again, this time in charge
of the club’s young talent.
The Welshman will also be in charge of the reserve side, which will be soon converted into a under-21 format. He revealed he was extremely happy and excited to have returned to Swansea City and was now looking forward to the start of the new season.
O’Leary said while speaking to reporters:
“I'm honoured and excited. Ironically it's 18 years to the day (July 4) that I signed for the club as an apprentice.
Now I'm joining as a coach and it's a great honour to be back starting my second apprenticeship.”
O’Leary admitted returning to the same club where he had spent most of his career would definitely help him as the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/U-17-Youth-team-c40787 coach. He revealed he had wanted to return to the Liberty Stadium when he left the club in 2010 to join Wrexham.
He continued:
“It helps that I've been around long enough to see what it takes to play for this football club, especially being around as a player when http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Martinez-c24468 initiated the change in playing style to its current philosophy.
When I left the club two years ago I hoped and dreamed that this day would come. Everyone knows the feelings I have for this club and, as always, I will give everything to my new role.”
Swansea City are expected to have their first pre-season training session under the new manager on Monday around a month before the Premier League season kicks off.
