Kristie Chan occupies Girls 50yard freestyle title – High School State Championships, San Francisco
Kristie Chan of LINC occupied gold medal of the Girls 50yard freestyle at the 2012 High School State Championships in San Francisco, California on Tuesday, May 1.
With her epic performance, Chan spoiled the party of her challengers and rushed her way towards the finishing end for gold medal. Her stupendous efforts placed her almost two strokes ahead of her opponents and she gathered the title of the event.
Chan demonstrated her notable efforts in the single lap discipline and tapped the finishing blockade for gold medal with the timing of 24.72 seconds.
She was followed Leslie Fung of LOW, who ended her swim in second best place by reporting a time of 24.97 seconds.
The silver medallist was followed by Fung’s teammate, Alika Lew-Koga, who stayed 1.13 seconds away from her foregoing finisher and tapped the wall with the timing of 26.10 seconds.
Lew-Koga remained 0.52 seconds away from overpowering her former finisher and hit the finishing end with the timing of 26.62 seconds for fourth position.
Fifth position of the discipline was obtained by Jenny Szeto of WASH, who remained nearly two body lengths slower from her foregoing finisher and tapped the wall with the timing of 28.32 seconds.
Meanwhile, the crowd experienced impeccable efforts of Bryan Zhong of WASH in the Boys 50yard freestyle.
Zhong stayed nearly half body length away from his strongest challengers and hit the wall for gold medal with the timing of 22.28 seconds.
He was trailed by Sam Hong of LOW, who stayed 0.32 seconds apart and settled on the victory stand for silver medal with the timing of 22.60 seconds.
Third position of the event was chased by Zhong’s team-member, Calvin Luo, who stayed 0.45 seconds apart and produced a time of 23.05 seconds.
Luo was followed by Kekoa Bautista of LINC, who snared fourth position of the 50yard events by submitting a time of 23.72 seconds.
In addition, the tournament concluded after the completion of listed events in Boys and Girls category while the medal winners for invited on the podium for accolades at prize ceremony of the championship.
