Kristin Armstrong wins the stage 2 of the Cascade Cycling Classic 2012
Kristin Armstrong of Team Exergy-Twenty 12 continued her superb form at the ongoing Cascade Cycling Classic 2012.
She wins the 25.8 kilometre Individual Time Trial stage 2 of the race after putting up a terrific show at the event.
The cyclist wins the Olympic time trial event in 2008 and has already been confirmed for the 2012 Olympic Games.
She will be tested at the 29 kilometre, Women’s Individual Time Trial event scheduled on August 1, 2012 as well as the 140 kilometre Women’s Road Race on July 29, 2012.
"I've decided that I think the peloton's made a pact, because you know we're all patriotic and we want to send me off to London in good fashion”.
“So I think they're all like, 'Hey, let's make Kristin feel really good about herself’".
“This is a true time trial course," she said. "It's going to be a great course for the Masters at the beginning of September. It took true fitness and true focus today”.
“They wanted to make the course a little fairer and flatter than the other course, but I'm not sure which one's harder, to be honest".
Alison Powers of Team NOW and Novartis for MS finished 1 minute and 17 seconds short at the second spot with Carmen Small of Team Optum pb Kelly Benefit Strategies holding the third spot.
Megan Guarnier of Team Tibco and Bridie O’donnell of Team Vanderkitten-Focus claimed the fourth and the fifth positions respectively.
Armstrong now leads the stage 2 classifications with a healthy margin of 2 minutes and 23 seconds over Alison Powers of Team NOW and Novartis for MS.
Carmen Small of Team Optum pb Kelly Benefit Strategies, Megan Guarnier of Team Tibco and Jade Wilcoxson of Team Optum pb Kelly Benefit Strategies occupied the next three positions in the respective order.
Lex Albrecht leads the Queen of Mountain classifications with a total number of 7 UCI points to her credit.
Megan Guarnier of Team TIBCO is one point behind at the second spot with Kristin McGrath, Kristin Armstrong and Kathryn Donovan occupying third, the fourth and the fifth positions in the respective order.
