Czech Republic’s Kristina Gavnholt continued her winning run as she powered her way into Women’s Singles semi-final after proving her worth against Switzerland’s Sabrina Jaquet in quarter-final match at the Yonex Dutch Open 2012 on Friday, October 12, in
Netherlands.
The lofty Kristina, who is the third seeded shuttler in Women’s Singles draw of the tournament, remained on track as she showed no respect to her Swiss opponent throughout the clash and won the battle in a dominating fashion.
Kristina was impressive in her shot selection and she did not commit any mistake in the execution of strokes and eventually showed exit to the in-form Sabrina in straight sets by taking just 32 minutes on court.
On the other hand, the un-seeded Sabrina gave a good fight to her higher ranked challenger in the first game but lost her focus at the crucial stage when it mattered most and lost the set.
Swiss shuttler failed to create any trouble in the following set and eventually lost the match without showing a considerable performance.
In the opening set, both shuttlers locked horns in a thrilling fashion as they injected power into their shots from the starting points and remained close at the initial stage.
The third seeded Kristina tried her best to dominate the pace of rallies but failed to set up a huge lead as she was just ahead of her Swiss opponent until the break by reaching at 11-10.
After the one-minute interval, Kristina showed a great performance as she employed attacking shots and pushed her rival on back foot.
The impressive Kristina did not show any respect to Sabrina in the concluding phase of opening set and eventually bagged it with a 21-19 score on the board.
In the second game, Kristina was everywhere on court as she did not face any trouble in taking a stunning 11-6 lead until the end of first half.
After the break, Kristina stayed calm and composed on court and did not lose her focus at any stage which helped her to end up the set with a 21-14 score on the board.
Kristina emerged as the winner against Sabrina in a dictating fashion as she finished off the match in straight games by a convincing margin of 21-19 and 21-14.
