Kristopher Gilchrist of Edinburgh University captured the title of the Men’s 200m breast-stroke in the open class, on the ending day of the 2011 British Gas ASA National Championships.
The ASA championships are taking place in Sheffield and are the second World Selection Trials for the British team to the 2011 World Championships in Shanghai, this July. In addition, the gold medallist of each event will be provided with a chance to represent
their country at the World stage in China.
Gilchrist won the gold medal of the event in a comfortable manner, as he touched the wall in a fastest time of 2 minutes and 10.16 seconds and stayed 3.38 seconds away from the silver medallist, Richard Webb. Street’s Webb, who claimed the second position
of the event, touched the wall in a time of 2 minutes and 13.54 seconds. He was 1.14 seconds faster than his following swimmer, Laurent Carnol of Loughborough University, who secured the podium for the bronze medal by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 14.68

The 27-year-old Gilchrist won the gold medal of the same event at the 2008 Manchester World Short Course Championships. He is also the bronze medallist of the same category at the 2006 Budapest European Long Course Championships.
Carnol’s team-member, James Broady, stayed only 0.10 seconds away from his compatriot and settled on the finishing wall as the fourth fastest swimmer, clocking a time of 2 minutes and 14.78 seconds. Christopher Steeples of Derventio and Russell Smith of
