Kristyna Pliskova dumps Ekaterina Bychkova to reach the final qualifier – Family Circle Cup 2012
Czech beauty queen, Kristyna Pliskova, outfoxed the Russian talented professional, Ekaterina Bychkova, to book a spot in the final qualifier of the Family Circle Cup in Charleston, USA. The 144th ranked Czech steered
away with a straight sets triumph 7-6(5), 6-4.
The match ended up in an hour and 34 minutes. Pliskova never looked in any sort of trouble at all. She started the match with a serve hold and continued to exert pressure on her opponent; although failing to generate any opportunities
to break serve but still dominated the match throughout.
No breakthroughs were witnessed in the opening set which was probably a very frustrating statistic for the Czech who was clearly a better competitor. However, her efforts were rewarded when Bychkova dropped a couple of points in
the tie-breaker that proved pivotal in deciding the first set.
The first set triumph proved beneficial for the Czech as her opponent lost confidence in her game play. The fifth game of the second set brought the first breakthrough of the match and it went to the deserving Czech contestant.
However, Pliskova’s serve was broken in the eighth game but the pressure played its part and Bychkova lost the following serve game gifting the lead back to her opponent. The Czech just needed to hold her serve to move one step
closer to the first round of the tournament. She did that with ease dropping just a couple of points in the final game.
Next matchup for the Czech starlet is the most difficult in the entire draw. She is going to play the top seed compatriot, Iveta Benesova, for a place in the opening round of the tournament. If she manages to pull up an upset in
these circumstances, she will definitely climb few ranks in the new edition of the rankings; more importantly join her twin sister, Karolina Pliskova, who is expected to win her final qualifier, in the main draw of the tournament.
Karolina Pliskova escaped an upset in the first qualifier against the Belgian rival, Tamaryn Hendler, in an epic three-setter. She must hold the Portuguese competitor, Michelle larcher de Brito, to reach the main round.
