Kristyna Pliskova mallets down Iryna Bremond to book a place in round two – Malaysian Open 2012
Kristyna Pliskova of Czech Republic progressed into the second round of BMW Malaysian Open after ousting the French professional, Iryna Bremond, in straight sets 6-0, 6-2. A complete one-sided show from the 164th ranked
Czech smothered her win in just over 53 minutes.
Pliskova had a psychological advantage of two head-to-head triumphs in the earlier encounters and she kept her unbeaten run against Bremond. The 105th ranked French is facing a terrible time on the courts. It was her
seventh successive loss; probably the aging factor is coming into play as she is turning 28-years-old this October.
The 19-years-old Czech was impressive in the qualifying rounds as well and she showed her worth with a blistering show at the hard courts of Kuala Lumpur. The first set was a bagel that portrays the class and domination of the
Czech. Pliskova broke her opponent’s serve on three different occasions and held her serve on the other hand to bag first six games of the match to seal her opening set triumph.
Bremond just won nine points in total in the opening set compared to 24 of her opponent. Pliskova converted all her first serves into successes; probably she needs to work on her seconds serve as her turnover in that department
was just 50 per cent. Apart from that she was terrific throughout the set; allowing no opportunity to her opponent to make any sort of impact at the match.
The Czech continued to devastate her opponent in the second set as well; she broke serve in the sixth game to take the lead of 4-2. There was no coming back for the French who was completely ousted in all departments. Nothing was
going right for the French. She tried hard to turn the tables on her opponent but lost another serve game and gifted the victory to her opponent.
It was a deserving triumph for the Czech who bagged 53 total points out of 83 played and converted five breakpoints out of six allotted opportunities. She is definitely in sublime touch and prepares herself for a battle against
the winner of the match between Yvonne Meusburger and Peng Shuai.
