http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 wicketkeeper, Kruger van Wyk has earned his debut Test call after the regular wicketkeeper of the Kiwis BJ Watling was ruled out of the first Test against the Proteas due to a hip injury.
The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Graham-Robert-Cowdrey-c60631 Wyk was not part of the Test squad initially announced by New Zealand selectors for the opening Test of the three match series against South Africa starting at Dunedin, on Wednesday, March 7, 2012. However, an ill-fated
hip injury to first choice gloveman BJ Watling, has earned him a late call up into the squad, and will, in all probability make his Test debut on Wednesday.
New Zealand cricket team’s physiotherapist, Paul Close confirmed that Watling has injured his right hip joint and will miss tomorrow’s Test match against Proteas.

"The nature of the injury is such that we were concerned about BJ’s ability to get through the match, based on the high workloads required by a wicket-keeper batsman," said Paul Close speaking to media reporters ahead of the Test series opener.
Asked about the injury layoff, Close said that at this stage it was unclear how long Watling would take to make a comeback to the field.
The 32-year-old van Wyk, who was born in South Africa, moved to New Zealand in 2006 and has played several seasons of first-class cricket with and against several players in the South Africa team touring the New Zealand these days. Having played with and
against, fast bowlers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/M-Morkel-c73528, van Wyk is aware of the bowling techniques of the South African bowlers and could be quite helpful in strengthening the lower order of New Zealand batting line up.
The South Africans have been dominant in the ongoing tour of New Zealand, where they have won both the T20 and One Day Internationals series against the hosts quite comprehensively. Now the Proteas must be looking forward to take the momentum into the three-match
Test series, where a series whitewash on the Kiwis would take them to the top of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013.
