Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul is confident of a successful season with the club and hopes to reach the next level in his career, both with Newcastle and Holland.
The 6ft 4in Dutch goalkeeper has progress on his mind with both club and country. Krul has urged Newcastle teammates and stars to stick with the club and build on last season’s fifth place finish in the Premier League.
Krul is also hopeful of impressing new Dutch coach Louis Van Gaal after the Netherlands’ poor European campaign last month. The Dutch are preparing for their World Cup qualifiers for the tournament which will commence in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brazil-c2858 2014. The Dutch shot stopper
has more than enough time to make his claim for the national side.
The keeper is completely focused on his club for now. He is well aware of what Newcastle will face in the coming season. The Magpies will be competing on four fronts; the Premier League, the League Cup, the FA Cup and the Europa League. Krul is especially
excited about the Europa League and hopes for the team to finish in the top four so they can push on for the Champions League next season.
Newcastle begin the Premier League campaign at home against Tottenham Hotspur, followed by a match against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786, but this does not faze Krul, who is confident in the team’s ability to compete against the top teams.
Talking to a German newspaper, Krul said:
“We have a tough start against Tottenham and Chelsea but we had a tough start last year. We drew with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 and beat Sunderland away so that shows we aren’t afraid.”
“But we had our best season in years; we don’t need to be afraid of anybody. Hopefully we can hold on to all of our players and push on from last year.”
He is currently on tour with Newcastle in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 and is looking forward to the next game. He also spoke about Holland’s poor Euro 2012 campaign.
“The Euros were a big disappointment because nobody expected us to be out of a group like that.”
“Losing three games in a row is not the standard Holland have set in the last three years.”
