Krypton Factor to face Black Caviar in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at the Ascot
The Bahrain racing legend, who took the Dubai World Cup Carnival 2012 by a storm and left the crowds roaring, has been quoted by trainer, Fawzi Nass, that his stable star, Krypton Factor, ‘is facing a race against time as he will need to be in no less than the top form for a match-up with Black Caviar’.
The two are expected to brush shoulders in the Group 1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes (British Champions Series & Global Sprint Challenge) at the Ascot over a distance of six furlongs on Saturday, 23rd June.
Winding up the final day of the Royal Ascot meet is a line-up of fifteen, three-year and older runners, who will invade the track for getting entitled to the £283,550 prize money.
The Lady Fairhaven bred has raced six times during the new season, and out of those ventures, he was successful in half.
He finished as a runner-up twice, and then finished fifth in his most recent try. All his races besides the very recent one were at Meydan.
Kyllachy’s four-year-old bay/brown gelding strode into the season on 21st January at Meydan over a mile in the Al Naboodah Construction Group (Handicap). He was the first one to finish the race behind the winner, Iguazu Falls, who landed the race by a margin of 1 ¼ lengths.
The 4 to 6 favourite of the race, Man Of Action, ended sixth on the track of twelve.
He then went all out in the Dubai Duty Free Finest Surprise (Handicap) on 26th January at Meydan over six furlongs.
He finished three and one-half lengths, over the 5 to 2 favourite of the race, Ariete Arrollador, who finished as the runner up.
Fawzi Nass trained then posted back-to-back wins by capturing the Group 3 Mahab Al Shimaal on 10th March at Meydan over six furlongs.
Riding with the regular jockey, Kieren Fallon, Krypton Factor defeated the 3 to 1 favourite, Hitchens, by 2 1/2 lengths.
On 31st March, he took keen control of the Group 1 Dubai Golden Shaheen at Meydan over six furlongs, and once again put the favourite of the race at a disadvantage while leading by 2 ¼ lengths.
The Cool Question foal is racing his fifth graded race of the season today, with a straight third grade one race in a row at 28 to 1.
"I think what we saw in Singapore was not the best of him," Nass said.
"He didn't travel as well as he did to here and the ground was pretty soft on raceday which he didn't enjoy. Unfortunately we've come to a wet country but hopefully we get some summer heat next week and the ground is in good shape."
