In June of this year, my entire year and i took our final KS3 examinations and were told that our results would be released mid-july.

A month later, there is still no sign of the promised results. What on earth is going on? Has anyone received their results this year?

If you took the test, have you recieved yours? (and if so, how did you do?)

I know for a fact that if our school had received the results, they would have released them by now. Obviously the havn't- wont this cause problems when assigning classes for the new KS4 pupils?

Has this happened before?

What are your thoughts on the situation?

  1. Rach, as you rightly say, it isn't your school's fault. It is the fault of the company which was responsible for marking the tests: ETS. They have now been sacked, but of course, there is still a backlog of tests to get through.

Fortunately, I think you have nothing to worry about. Your teachers will have been marking your work all year - I'm sure you already know what level you're working at. Certainly a precursory glance at your writing above suggests that you're at least at the expected level of L5, probably higher.

Your teachers will be able to use your work from Y9 to work out what level you are, and to choose your sets for KS4. And hopefully your results will be back early in the term!

Oh, and my personal thoughts on the situation? It would be much better if they just got rid of the tests altogether, and just trusted your teachers' judgements. After all, they know you!

  2. I received my English result around the last week and an estimate of my Maths result but they are all been sent back for remarking. We haven't got our Science results but I know that some of my friends in other schools have. We were supposed to be getting our results either during the holidays or in September but it looks like it will be September now. We needed to get certain levels in our SATs to do some classes next year as well so it might cause problems but I'm hoping the school will sort something out about that before we go back. I don't know if this has happened before but hopefully it won't happen again because the contract with ETS has been ended - although I know this isn't much comfort for us! Hope you did well when you get your results back!
