Ksenia Kirillova routs Miyabi Inoue in the first round – LIC ITF Women's Tennis Championships 2011
Ksenia Kirillova of Russia overpowered her counterpart, Miyabi Inoue from Japan, in the first round of the 2011 LIC ITF Women's Tennis Championships. The match was contested in the hard courts sporting arena in Pune, India on Monday,
December 12th. Japanese did managed to win one set to level the scores but was completely exhausted in the third set; lost the match in just over an hour twenty minutes with a final score of 3-6, 7-5, 0-6.
Both players were going through a topsy turvy time at the courts. They had won few encounters in the recent past but were not touching their supreme form. It was obvious that both players were under a lot of pressure and definitely
wanted an aggressive start to their campaign in this tournament.
The game kicked off in traditional fashion and both players kept hold of their serves to take the score to 2-2. They were cautious about their shot selection that left the crowd dejected as they were looking for some aggression
upfront from both players to make a thumping impact.
First break came in the fifth game when the Russian opened up a bit and hammered her opponent on her serves; played some jaw-dropping winners that were good enough to win her the first break of the match. She held on to her serve
to take the two games lead and pushed the score to 4-2.
Next two serves were held by respective players but in the last game of the set, Russian once again came on top of her competitor, hammering it to all parts of the court with an exciting control over her winners. She rounded-off
the set in the grand style and pushed her opponent on a back foot.
Second set was very competitive as both players were not allowing their rivals to take any sort of advantage at all. Three aces from the Japanese delighted the crowd and took her opponent with a massive surprise.
Inoue was completely rocking the show but wasn’t able to capitalize on her breakpoint opportunities. The score was pushed to 3-3 and in the next two games both players traded breaks to take it to 4-4; no more drama was seen in
the next two games and score pushed to 5-5.
Finally the time had come for Inoue to step up as it was a do or die situation for her. She reacted positively and broke in the last game to take the set and levelled the score at one set apiece. Third set was completely demoralizing
for the Japanese as she seemed to have tired a lot was completely butchered in all aspects of the game.
No victory in the last set for the Japanese saw her opponent sail into the second round where she squares-off against winner of the match between Melis Sezer and Juan Ting-fei.
