Ksenia Pervak defeats qualifier Vitalia Diatchenko in first round – Generali Ladies Linz 2011
Russian tennis star Ksenia Pervak eased past qualifier Vitalia Diatchenko 6-4, 6-1 on Tuesday to advance into the second round of 2011 Generali Ladies Linz here in Austria. Pervak looked on top of her game as she required only
1 hour and 29 minutes dispatching her opponent.
Unseeded at the Women’s Tennis Association tournament, Pervak took her time to settle in the match. Although she had to work hard to earn the opening set, she looked in complete control of the situation in second set as she dropped
only a game to complete an emphatic straight sets victory.
Pervak is a fresh talent in the women’s tennis world. Since her arrival to the international scene, Pervak has considerable results on the tour. Following her impressive performance, she improved her ranking to world number 38
as well. Claiming only title of her career earlier this year, she is looking stronger and confident than ever before.
The Russian will be hoping to continue her impressive form in the upcoming matches of the tournament as well. If she can bring more consistency into her game play, she will have a great opportunity to clinch her second title of
the season. Pervak managed to hit only a mere 48 per cent first serve in the match with no serve aces. To do well against top seeded players here in Linz, she will have to bring significant improvement in serve department of the game.
Diatchenko had her chances during the contest but she was unable to handle the pressure and her nerves. Making double faults/ unforced errors at crucial stages, she did not give herself a chance to stay in the match. Having done
a great job in the qualifying round of the competition, she was certainly expecting more than what she managed to achieve in the main draw. However, being a tough competitor, she is expected to bounce back strongly on her next appearance on WTA tour.
Although Pervak suffered a break of serve early in the opening set, she bounced back brilliantly with a double serve break. Leading the game score 5-4, she held on to her service game with four straight points to take 1-0 set score
lead.
With momentum on her side, the 20-year-old Pervak completely dominated her opponent in second set of the match. Breaking the serve three times, she closed out the match in straight sets to move ahead at the WTA tournament.
