Ksenia Pervak jolts Victoria Larriere in quarterfinal – Tashkent Open 2011
Opening the quarter final of the Tashkent Open 2011 was number one seeded Ksenia Pervak and qualifier Victoria Larriere. The two battled it out on hard courts of the Olympic School Tennis Courts and after 60 minutes Pervak stood
victorious in straight sets of 6-1, 6-2.
The players were meeting for the first time in their professional careers and were unfamiliar with each other’s style and technique. After arriving on the court, the players warmed up for about five to ten minutes. The chair umpire
arrived and the coin was flipped, subsequently opening the set was Larriere, however it was a bad start as she was unable to hold her serve and endowed the first break to Pervak, who capitalized on the break and then went on to holding her serve in the second
game. She again broke her opponent in the third game and took a comfortable lead of 3-0.
Although, Pervak was determined to make it a perfect victory, she was unable to achieve that as she was broken in the fourth game by Larriere. Not taken a back Pervak continued her assault on the qualifier well into the fifth game
going on to the sixth game. The flabbergasted Larriere’s miserable defence stood no likelihood. In the seventh game Larriere was broken yet again by Pervak, who squared off an almost flawless victory of a bread stick.
Opening the second set was Pervak and in a reversal of fate was broken by Larriere, who got her revenge on Pervak and as she held her serve in the second game, she had taken a lead of 2-0. Pervak quickly made a comeback before
Larriere could secure her lead and in the fourth game broke Larriere to tie the score at 2-2.  She then held her serve in the fifth game to take a mini lead and as Larriere came under pressure, she double faulted and gifted a game to Pervak.
During the last two games Pervak broke Larriere once more and by hitting 71 percent of her first serves on target, she bagged the second set and the match to reserve a place in the semi final, where she will be facing Urszula Radwanska.
