Kuala Lumpur Hockey Club beats Yayasan Negeri Sembilan 8-0 in Malaysian Hockey League
After an outstanding performance, Kuala Lumpur Hockey Club (KLHC), the defending double Champions clobbered Yayasan Negeri Sembilan (YNS) by 8-0 in the Premier Division of the 2011 Malaysian Hockey League (MHL) on September 25 at the National Hockey Stadium
in Bukit Jalil in Malaysia.
It was a comfortable victory for the defending Champions which further increased their ranking at the points chart over the goal difference. Sapura is holding second position at the points-table with a similar score but fewer goals.
KLHC won the fourth consecutive match, as they had already beaten Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), University of Technology Mara (UiTM) and Maybank in the earlier fixtures. On the other side, the team YNS lost the third match in the ongoing tourney. They only
match won was against Nur Insafi while they lost to University Kuala Lumpur (UniKL), TNB and KLHC.
Manager KLHC George Koshy in a pleasing state of mind praised the performance of his team. He stated that the early goals paid them off in the head of the white-wash victory. He said, “The early goals helped our cause and after that it was a question of
just how many we would score. It gave us a chance to rotate some players, as there were some tired legs out there. It was a comprehensive performance and we hope that the players will continue performing to their abilities.”
It was quite interesting game where the defending title holders ruined the defensive line of YNS which was comprised of six Pakistani players. However, they worked at neither defence nor offence and failed to save their side from a humiliated defeat.
Nasir Ahmad, the veteran custodian conceded six goals and was replaced with Azrul Hairi Abdul Latif in the second part of the match.
With wasting little time in the match, Chua Boon Huat scored the first goal of the match in the very second minute of the mark. Nabil Fiqri Mohd Noor passed the ball to Huat for deflecting it into a successful goal. Razie Rahim and his team-mate Harvinder
Singh scored one goal each respectively in the 10th and 16th minutes of the play and shifted the game into the favour of KLHC. Mohamed Syamin Yusof and Huat also added one goal each in the 23rd and 28th minutes and
increased the tally up to five goals. With five minutes left on the clock, when Tengku Ahmad Tajuddin accounted for a goal and increased the lead up to six at half-time, 6-0.
Ismail Abu and Ahmad Kazamirul Nasruddin of Kuala Lumpur Hockey Club further added one goal each respectively in the 43rd and 60th minutes and took the score up to eight. From the other side, the players from YNS failed to carry on
any dangerous move into the deep circle of KLHC in the two halves. KLHC won the match 8-0.
