Kuala Lumpur Hockey Club seek consecutive double-crown in Malaysian Hockey League
Kuala Lumpur Hockey Club (KLHC), the double champions of the 2010 Malaysian Hockey League (MHL) is looking to add a new chapter in the sports history by lifting the double titles in the upcoming edition of the league that is scheduled to be held from September
17, 2011.
With the help of national players, they are committed to hold back the two titles (overall and league titles). They would be the first one if they succeeded to lift the two titles for the second time.
George Koshy, the Manager of the KLHC spoke to the media informing that they held back the sixteen names that were part of the squad in the previous edition of the MHL. He was of the opinion that the main objective of the club is to retain the double-crown
in the forthcoming edition. In his view, they have had a trustworthy line-up and likely to become the first club to lift the double-title consecutively for a second time. He said, “We have a reliable team and we hope to be the first team ever to retain the
titles although we only started training a week ago. Our national players are in China (for the Asian Champions Trophy) and will only rejoin the team next week.”
The manager also expressed hopes that KLHC will show an impressive performance in the beginning game of the Malaysian Hockey League against Tenaga. Though they failed to win the opening game against Tenaga in the Charity Shield match in 2010, however they
clinched the double title.
Few changes have been made in the club, as some players opted to quit or change the line-up. However, it is not a big deal for KLHC which has had the services of nine players from the national squad. Mohd Razie Abdul Rahim, Tengku Ahmad Taijuddin, Mohd Fitri,
Roslan Jamaluddin, Kelvinder Singh, Mohd Sukri Abdul Mutalib, Mohd Shahrun Nabil, Azlan Misron and Nabil Fiqri Mohd Nor are the players from the national team.
The game of Razie, the KLHC player will be worth watching. He was one of the best short corner masters in the previous edition. He was also highest scorer of the 2010 MHL with 27 goals.
