Kuala Lumpur Hockey Club thrashes UniKL in Malaysian Hockey League
Kuala Lumpur Hockey Club (KLHC) thrashed University Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) by 6-1 in the 6th game in the Premier Division of the Malaysian Hockey League (MHL) played at the National Hockey Stadium in Bukit Jalil on October 05
It seems that the there will be no hurdle for KLHC to win the title in the nine-team Premier Division honour.
Meanwhile, Sapura, the true competitor of the KLHC, failed to maintain its unbeaten record and lost the match to Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB).
Although the team KLHC was already sitting atop at the point-chart, they registered another heavy margin victory to further ease their way towards winning the title.
The UniKL squad was not expecting such a humiliating defeat with as much goal difference.
The KLHC line-up, comprising of eight players from the national team, was more powerful in all aspects of the game as compared to 5th place UniKL.
Both teams played a fast and furious game right from the beginning but did not succeed to score a goal until the 25th minute of the mark.
Tengku Ahmad Tajuddin (KLHC) drew the first blood for the team through a penalty conversion that eased the way for other players to increase the tally.
In a matter of four minutes, Chua Boon Huat (KLHC) drove the ball in the deep circle and volleyed a powerful shot into the goal.
With two minutes remaining on the clock, Mohd Yazid Yusof (UniKL) scored a short corner and decreased the lead down to a single goal.
The two teams moved into the second half of the game with KLHC sitting ahead at 2-1.
In the second frame of the match, KLHC showed outstanding performance and destroyed the defence line of UniKL.
With two minutes into the second period, Mohd Razie Abdul Rahim scored a goal, again expanding the lead to two.
Another player, Harvinder Singh, notched his first goal of the day in the 52nd minute while his teammate, Azli Misron, accounted for a goal in the 57th minute.
With seconds left on the clock before the completion of regular time, Mohd Amerullah Abdul Aziz marked a goal, increased the tally, and won the match at 6-1.
Manager of the KLHC team, George Koshy, while briefing the media after the match said that he was quite satisfied with the heavy margin victory.
In his views the team displayed an impressive show to knock down the UniKL side.
Koshy added, “We did very well today. I believe the title will only be decided in the last match against Sapura”.
The KLHC squad will face Nur Insafi and Sapura in the upcoming fixtures and decide the fate of the Premier Division title.
