Kuala Lumpur Hockey Club to face Nur Insafi to secure Premier Division Title
The team Kuala Lumpur Hockey Club (KLHC) is only one victory away from the Premier Division title of the Malaysia Hockey League (MHL), against Nur Insafi in the seventh fixture of the event on October 07, 2011.
The consecutive seventh win will not only confirm their title ahead of Sunday fixture opposite Sapura but also fix their match in the quarter-final against Division One Champions.
R. Vivekanandan – the Coach of the leading KLHC squad was putting their triumph on hold until they win the game against Nur Insafi.
Unwilling to celebrate the victory until the title was assuredly in their pockets, he added, “We are two points ahead of Tenaga Nasional and with a game in hand. But Sapura, whom we play last, is still the main rival. They can gain the same number of points
as us if they beat us on Sunday. So at the end of the day, goal difference will play a part.”
The KLHC squad showed outstanding performance in the league and is holding the top position with 18 points after winning all six games with an impressive goal margin. They have scored 35 goals during these games.
The coach continued that they were not thinking about Sunday’s fixture yet, as only after defeating Nur Insafi first, will they be able to secure the Premier Division honour. If, in case, they lose the match, the entire scenario will change.
Commenting on the heavy margin victories, the trainer stated that most of the goals were scored owing to the mistakes of the rival teams rather than any brilliant show on part of the strikers. He claimed that he wanted the squad to demonstrate their true
capabilities and not win games based on pure luck.
The Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) is presently at second place with 16 points. They will play their last game of the tournament against Maybank on Friday. Their chances to end the round at the same position are largely depended on the match results of Sapura
in the remaining two games.
In case Sapura loses the match against TNB, the latter will successfully retain their second place in the tournament. Being in a crucial situation itself, the Sapura will be fighting hard, not only to achieve the second position but also play for the title-clash
against the KLHC.
