Aleksandr Ploshnik
believes that Kuban Krasnodar have a decent chance to win the upcoming Russian Premier League tie against Spartak Moscow if they work on their defence
Spartak Moscow endured a terrific start to the Russian Premier League campaign after suffering one defeat in the opening five league meetings. However, they failed to extend their decent run after recording back-to-back defeats
against Terek Grozny and Lokomotiv Moscow.
The Krasnodar-based club, on the other hand, have lost just three points from the last four matches. As things stand, they are at the 7th spot on the league table just beneath the Spartachi, who are a place above them
in the standing die to a better goal difference.
Their emphatic 6-2 win against Volga Nizhny Novgorod and their 2-1 victory over Dynamo Moscow is a proof of their stability and result of their consistent performances in the Russian championship.
Former CSKA Moscow striker, Aleksandr Ploshnik, has urged the Yellow-Greens to win the upcoming match against the Moscow-based club, insisting that it is the best time to face the Spartachi.
The fact that Kuban will play the much anticipated match on the home ground delights Ploshnik, who believes that their fabulous fans can play a vital role in the match after becoming the Cossacks twelfth man on the field.
“Kuban are not inferior to Spartak if we compare the quality of the game between the two sides. I think Kuban have a slight psychological advantage over their opponents after winning the last two league games.”
“I think that Kuban have a good chance to earn all three points against Spartak. Most likely, the game will be ineffective and will end with a one goal difference in favour of one of the teams.”
“Spartak are a top level team that likes to play attacking football. I think they will try to win the match after two defeats in a row.” The 57-year-old was quoted as saying.
Ploshnik went on to urge his former club to improve defensively, insisting that Kuban have failed to claim a clean sheet ever since their 1-0 defeat against Mordovia Saransk back in July.
