Kugo Asumi and Megumi Yokoyama storm into Women’s Doubles final at Singapore International Series
Japan’s Kugo Asumi and Megumi Yokoyama continued their winning streak and powered their way into Women’s Doubles final after giving a severe lesson to their higher ranked local opponents Mingtian Fu and Aiying Xing in semi-final showdown at the Singapore
International Series 2012 on Friday, August 17, in Singapore.
The in-form Kugo and Megumi, who are un-seeded shuttlers in Women’s Doubles main draw of the event, played killing badminton and easily crushed the second seeded Mingtian and Aiying.
The lower ranked Kugo and Megumi were in full swing in court as they played dominating badminton throughout the battle and ousted their Singaporean challengers in straight games in a completely one-sided fashion.
In the meanwhile, the second seeded Mingtian and Aiying were helpless against the power play of their Japanese opponents. They could not put up strong resistance on court and easily bowed down despite having the support of their home fans.
In the first set, Kugo and Megumi played positive and dominating badminton while controlling the rallies at net.
The Japanese shuttlers were in tremendous form on court as they played with remarkable precision and took a comfortable lead until the mid-game interval.
After the one-minute break, Kugo and Megumi remained consistent in their smashing form on court as they did not face any trouble from their opponents.
On the other hand, Mingtian and Aiying tried their best to play attacking badminton but they failed to control the rallies and remained struggling.
The lower ranked Kugo and Megumi were fully focused on court and they easily wrapped up the opening game with a huge 21-13 score on the board.
In the following set, Singaporean shuttlers again remained struggling to match the pace of rallies and also could not stop their Japanese rival from setting up a huge lead until the one-minute interval.
After the break, Kugo and Megumi continued their smooth ride without facing any resistance from their rivals and finished off the set with a fantastic margin of 21-11.
The impressive Kugo and Megumi tamed Mingtian and Aiying in straight games with a lopsided 21-13 and 21-11 score on the board.
