Kumar Sangakkara and Shaun Marsh deny payment rumours
Sri Lanka’s captain Kumar Sangakkara and Australian Shaun Marsh have denied the news about a letter which was apparently written by the two players to the Board of Control for Cricket in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 for the clearance of Indian Premier League dues.
There were reports in the Indian media that both the players who represented the Kings XI Punjab in the first three editions of IPL have not received their dues from the franchise and to get the clearance of those dues, they have contacted BCCI.
Both the players were left out for auction for the fourth edition of IPL which will be held after the 2011 ICC World Cup.
The chief operating officer of the Kings XI Punjab Arvinder Singh rubbished these rumours saying that the team has contacted both the players and there has been no such letter issued to the BCCI.
Singh said, “Kumar Sangakkara and Shaun Marsh have strongly refuted the reportage about them writing to BCCI on non-payment of IPL dues.”
Singh also said that both the players have been in constant touch with the team and they have shown interest in representing the team again in the future if given an opportunity.
He stated, “On the contrary, they have been in constant touch with us and have reconfirmed that they have received all their dues. In addition, both players mentioned that if given a chance they would like to play for King XI http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Punjab-c833 in the upcoming season
of IPL.”
Many teams have left out players for auction this year in the IPL. Only a couple of the teams have retained all of their players in the side.
One of the biggest names to be left out from the side was http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Anil-Kumble-c44737 who represented the Bangalore Royal Challengers. He had a successful run as a captain with the team but was surprisingly left out for auction this year as the team didn’t retain him.
But Kumble announced his retirement from all forms of cricket and the decision may have come after the disappointment of not being retained by his team for the next edition of the cash-rich event.
