Kumar Sangakkara geared up to win against the Tuskers
The Deccan Chargers are all geared up to face the Kochi Tuskers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kerala-c803 in the 32nd match of the Indian Premier League to be played in Kochi on 27 April, 2011.
The Deccan Chargers skipper, Kumar Sangakkara, said that the Kochi Tuskers are in great touch despite a shy start and are formidable opponents for his side.
Sangakkara claimed that his side will not revisit the same mistakes which they committed against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hyderabad-c792.
While talking to media, Sangakkara quoted, "The Kochi Tuskers are a good team they have done pretty well, and they have just come-up with the bad game against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rajasthan-c837. So, we know what they can do but ours is about us, doing what we know what we can do
to best of our abilities tomorrow."
The left-handed player further opined that the IPL platform is creating lots of issues, conflicting with the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) future tours programme (FTP).
He believed that whether players should play for the country or for their commitments with their respective franchises will remain a debatable issue.
“For us in Sri Lanka it is always a case of playing as well as we can for the country and also do our best to honour our contracts and words with the IPL. I for one don't think that players should be put in a position where they have to choose one or the
other,” Sangakkara said.
He added, "There is enough time for both and players want to play proper cricket first for their countries and also if they do get an opportunity in the IPL here as well. So, it will always going to be a matter of debate but I am pretty sure that everyone
in ICC and the IPL will come to an agreement sooner or later for a specific window where the IPL can be played fully."
Recently, Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) asked the Lankan players to return and prepare for their upcoming England tour.
However, later the SLC allowed the players to stay in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 for IPL till 19 May after their agreement with the Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI).
After wrapping up their commitments in the IPL, the Lankan players will set off for England for the tour starting on 14 May, 2011.
Sri Lanka will play three Tests, five One Day Internationals and a Twenty20 International in England.
The two teams, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 and England, have played 11 Test match series between 1981 and 2008. England is leading with 5 wins and Sri Lanka has won 4 series (2 were drawn).
In the ODI format, both teams have played 47 matches with England winning 23 and the Lankans bagging 22.
