Kumar Sangakkara hopeful over Muralitharan question v India in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820: ICC World Cup 2011

Sri Lankan Captain Kumar Sangakkara is hopeful over the question of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Muttiah-Muralitharan-c78157 playing in the final against India at the Wenkhede Stadium in Mumbai on April 2, 2011. He added that Muralitharan was quite upbeat in the dressing room despite the hamstring and knee injuries that might keep him out.
Muralitharan, the illustrious albeit controversial spinner, has had a glorious cricketing career, spanning over two decades. Recently though, his performance has been marred by injuries, understandable given his age. The ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 final would be his last international match if the 38-year-old plays, which has been shrouded under mystery.
Angelo Mathews has also been struggling with a side strain prompting http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Chaminda-Vaas-c1223 to Mumbai as cover for the twosome.
Muralitharan has 800 test wickets and 534 One Day International (ODI) wickets to his name; he surpassed Wasim Akram’s record of 502 ODI wickets in 2009 and now holds the highest wicket-taker record for both tests and ODIs. His career has not been devoid of controversy though. The off-spinner's bowling action has always attracted criticism from commentators and on-field umpires alike. After a bio-mechanical analysis, his action was cleared by the ICC on two occasions.
Muralitharan made his test debut in 1992 and his ODI debut in 1993. He has played for the Athletic Club and Tamil Union Cricket under Sri Lanka's domestic cricket structure. He was also playing for the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League till the 2010 season and has been drafted by the Kochi Tuskers of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kerala-c803.
After Muralitharan became the highest wicket-taker in both forms of the game, he hinted towards his retirement by saying,” I think I am fit in my body and mind; I am enjoying my cricket and want to play more. But after the next World Cup, I will have nothing left to achieve in the game. The World Cup should mark the end of my career.”
The announcement came in July 2010 after Murali took 8 wickets in a Test match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750, reaching the coveted 800-wicket milestone in Test cricket.
