Kumble elected as KSCA President

The trio has shared in several memorable on-field victories with the Indian team and are all set to begin a fresh innings in their newly assigned administrative roles. Whilst Kumble has been appointed as the President
of KSCA, the pacer duo of Venkatesh Prasad and Javagal Srinath were elected as Vice President and Secretary of the KSCA respectively.
The group led by 40-year-old Anil Kumble swept the election as they earned 23 out of the 24 votes that went into the ballot box.
Kumble prevailed agaisnt Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wodeyar by a margin of 43 votes. It must be kept in mind that Wodeyar, a scion of the Royal family of Mysore, is the current President of the KSCA.
Srinath faced off against former umpire AV Jayaprakash for the KSCA Secretary post, winning by 245 votes. Jayaprakash was one of the on-field umpires when Kumble claimed his historic 10 wicket haul in a Test innings

Prasad, along with Sadanand Mayya and Roger Binny were nominated as the Vice-Presidents of the association.
1080 out of 1490 members voted while out of a total of 214 member clubs, 229 cast their votes.
Rogger Binny, the hero of the Indian team that lifted the World Cup trophy in 1983, has been elected as the KSCA Vice-President for a second stint. He was hopeful that the recent elections will bring remarkable
change to the status of the game in the State of Karnataka.
"It's a landmark victory which will change the perception of sportsmen entering into the administration,” said Binny. "Personally for me, this is one of the sweetest victories in an election," he added.
When asked about the basic agenda of the newly elected panel, Binny said, the sport and the players will get prime priority.
"Our main endeavour will be to improve the standard of cricket in Karnataka and develop a great infrastructure at the grassroots level," said the 55-year-old World Cup winner.
