Kumpoo Macau Open: Ji Hoon Hong trounces Poodchalat Pisit to surge into Men’s Singles quarter-final
Korea’s Ji Hoon Hong proved his elevated standard in the arena and surged into Men’s Singles quarter-final after crushing Thailand’s Poodchalat Pisit in round-of-16 clash at Kumpoo Macau Open Badminton Grand Prix Gold 2012 on Thursday, November 29, in Macau.
The in-form Ji Hoon, who has been displaying tremendous skills in the arena, played in a scintillating manner and remained successful in stamping his mark over Poodchalat in 40 minutes.
Korean player started his run in the pre-quarter-final clash by playing remarkable badminton and he easily managed to end up this fight in straight games in a dominating manner with a huge margin.
In contrast, the Thai player worked well in the starting set but he failed to maintain his focus and speed in the arena and ultimately went down against Ji Hoon without creating any considerable resistance.
It was an interesting fight in the initial points when Ji Hoon showed attacking display of his craft on court.
Korean shuttler was incredibly quick in getting the bird early and he did not encounter any trouble in pushing his challenger on back foot.
Ji Hoon did not show any respect to his Thai challenger in the first part and clinched a comfortable lead on score board until the break.
In the meanwhile, Poodchalat tried to play attacking badminton but railed to take the bird early and remained trailing far behind after the mid-game interval.
However, Ji Hoon stayed fully focused and quick in the arena and he easily wrapped up the opening set with a six-point advantage of 21-15 on the board.
In the second game, Thai shuttler increased his speed to create pressure on his opponent but failed to put up strong show and remained struggling until the end of opening half.
After the mid-game interval, Korean shuttler continued playing impressive badminton without showing any mercy to his Thai opponent and took the second game with a crushing 21-13 margin on the score board.
Ji Hoon proved his mettle in the pre-quarter-final clash in the arena and easily thrashed Poodchalat in straight sets with an impressive total of 21-15 and 21-13.
