Kumpoo Macau Open: Yan Kit Chan stuns Yong Zhao Ashton Chen in Men’s Singles round-of-16
Hong Kong’s talented player Yan Chan Kit defied all odds to surge into Men’s Singles quarter-final after proving his mettle against the higher ranked Yong Zhao Ashton Chen of Singapore in round-of-16 battle at Kumpoo Macau Open GP Gold on Thursday, November
29, in Macau.
The un-seeded Yan Kit, who has been putting up phenomenal show of positive badminton in all of his matches in Macau Open, continued playing top quality game and managed to defeat 16th seeded Yong Zhao in 42 minutes.
Hong Kong man did not show any respect for his Singaporean challenger in the arena as he played with superb speed and remained successful in winning the battle with a huge margin on the board.
In the meanwhile, the higher ranked Yong Zhao failed to stretch his winning streak in the arena as he lost his focus. He could not create any trouble for his lower ranked Hong Kong challenger and crashed out without proving his worth.
The impressive speed and attacking strokes of Yan Kit assisted him to take over the control of rallies right from the initial points of first game.
Hong Kong player did not show any mercy to his rival and took a wonderful lead at the early stage of opening set.
Yan Kit progressed with an impressive speed and remained successful in setting up a decent margin until the end of first half.
After the break, the higher ranked Yong Zhao tried his best to play positive badminton but failed to create any trouble for his rival and remained trailing behind.
However, the lower ranked Yan Kit was calm and composed in the arena and he did not commit any mistake all the way to win the opening game with a margin of 21-15.
In the second game, the 16th seeded Yong Zhao put in his best effort to play positive badminton but failed to create any difference until the one-minute interval.
After the break, the in-form Yan Kit continued his comfortable ride in the arena and easily bagged the second game with a remarkable margin of 21-15.
Yan Kit emerged as the winner against Yong Zhao in this Men’s Singles pre-quarter-final battle with a comfortable 21-15 and 21-15 score on the board.
