China’s lofty player Yuekun Chen delivered a scintillating performance and reached into Men’s Singles third round after giving a severe treatment to his higher ranked challenger Hu Yun of Hong Kong in second round at Kumpoo Macau Open Badminton GP Gold in
Macau, on Wednesday, November 28.
The spirited Yuekun, who participated in this event as an un-seeded shuttler, made his presence strongly felt as he played remarkable badminton and toppled the fourth seeded Hu Yun who is currently World Number 15 at the moment.
Chinese player showed a wonderful performance in the opening set and took it easily. However, he had to dig deep into his arsenal and managed to win it with a narrow margin to seal off victory in straight sets.
On the other hand, the higher ranked Yun was shocked by the incredible performance of his rival. He failed to cope up with the pressure and eventually went down without winning even a single game.
The unmatched speed and attacking shots of Yuekun helped him to take control of the pace of rallies right from the opening points of first game.
Yuekun showed that he has obtained highest class skills in the arena and eventually successful in taking a strong position in the arena.
Chinese shuttler remained in dominating position all the way to set up a phenomenal lead until the end of first half.
The match proceeded in the same way after the mid-game interval as Yuekun did not lose his focus in the arena.
Yuekun remained consistent in employing powerful smashes in targeted areas and eventually bagged the opening game with a sound score of 21-15.
In the second set, Yun also elevated his play by increasing his speed and remained toe-to-toe against his lower ranked Chinese opponent until the end of opening half.
After the break, both shuttlers continued playing attacking badminton and pushed each other in all areas of the court.
Both players did not slow down the pace of rallies and the score reached at 20-20 when Yuekun showed aggression and managed to win the game with a tight margin of 22-20.
The impressive Chinese shuttler won this second round contest again Yun in straight sets with an inspiring 21-15 and 22-20 score on the board.
