Kumpoo Macau Open: Yuekun Chen gets better of Riyanto Subagja in Men’s Singles round-of-16
China’s in-form player Yuekun Chen showed a great performance in the arena and secured his place in Men’s Singles quarter-final after defeating Indonesia’s Riyanto Subagja in round-of-16 battle at Kumpoo Macau Open Badminton GP Gold 2012 in Macau, on Thursday,
November 29.
The impressive Yuekun, who has been showing up a remarkable performance in the tournament, played with tremendous precision and managed to claim victory against his Indonesian challenger in just 32 minutes.
Chinese shuttler was at his best in the arena as he played with incredible speed and precision in his shots and managed to send Riyanto packing in straight sets with a huge margin on the board.
On the contrary, Indonesian player faced a fierce attack from his Chinese rival and he failed to survive in the arena. He could not dominate the pace at any stage and lost the match without winning any game.
In the first set, Yuekun showed an amazing aggression in the arena and took over the control at the early stage without facing even a slight problem from his challenger.
The highly elevated skills of Chinese shuttler kept him in lead and remained in complete command of rallies.
Chinese player did not show any mercy to his challenger in the opening half and remained successful in building up a strong lead until the mid-game interval.
After the break, Indonesian player tried his best to reduce the deficit but failed to get close on the board and remained struggling all the way.
On the other hand, Yuekun continued putting up superb show in the arena and managed to end up the opening set with a huge margin of 21-12.
In the second game, the Indonesian played slightly better badminton and remained close on the board until the one-minute break.
However, Yuekun changed his tactics in the arena and started to push his rival on back foot by working well at net and remained successful in taking the second game with a spectacular margin of 21-17.
The lofty Yuekun showed a strong performance in the arena and remained successful in winning this pre-quarter-final contest in straight sets with a wonderful margin of 21-12 and 21-17.
