Rubin Kazan head coach, Kurban Berdyev, has insisted that he has not decided to leave the Kazan-based club at least for now and told the fans that he might extend his stay in the near future.
But given the statement that action speaks louder than words, Berdyev reportedly refused to sign a one-year contract being given to him by the Russian Premier League club’s management on Monday.
The 60-year-old, whose contract expires at the end of the ongoing campaign, has been touted to become next Turkmenistan coach after leaving the struggling Russian outfit this winter.
Berdyev’s future has been the source of speculation courtesy to the Volzhane's below par start to the season. As things stand, they are at the 7th spot on the league table with 31 points.
If speculations are to be believed, Football federation of Turkmenistan invited Berdyev to lead his national side but according to a source, the former FC Kairat manager will make his decision no later than mid-December.
And while people like Valery Karpin want Berdyev to coach Spartak Moscow should he decide to leave Rubin, Berdyev requested the media to stop linking him with different clubs every day and told them that he will make a decision
soon.
“I am thinking about renewing my contract. I think this issue will be resolved in one way or another after the meeting with the Board of Trustees, the date of which has not been determined.”
“Of course, I would like to stay but it all depends on the will of Allah.” The Muslim manager was quoted as saying.
Berdyev went on to shower praise on Zenit St. Petersburg’s Luciano Spalletti, saying that the Italian tactician proved him as one of the best manager across the globe after helping the St. Petersburg club in claiming back-to-back
league titles in recent years.
“Spalletti is unpredictable. I enjoy watching him because he always has different plans and strategies," he concluded.
