Kurt Angle reveals he could have been a UFC star – UFC News
Former WWE superstar and current TNA star Kurt Angle believes he would have been a UFC fighter, only if the organisation existed back in those days. Angle won Olympic gold in 1996 in freestyle wrestling. He is currently considered one of the best technical
fighters in the history of wrestling.
“I would have done MMA if I would have known it would have blown up the way it did,” said Angle in an interview with MMA Uncensored. “In 1999, I joined WWE, then I went to TNA. If MMA had blown up at that time, I would have done it, full time. I would have
gone into MMA.”
Angle has proven his skills with time. Currently, the world of mixed martial arts is filled with kick boxers and wrestlers. However, no fighter mixed martial artist possesses qualities that Angle posses. He is one of the most elite WWE former fighters and
currently the former TNA champion.
“But, I was so far into it, main eventing Wrestlemanias, that there was no way I could turn back. I do love pro wrestling, and I love being with TNA…but it just wasn’t the right time. The money was in pro wrestling,” Angle added.
“I can’t say yes or no. I’m 43. I tried out for the Olympics, last year, and I kept getting injured. It’s one of those things where, I was wrestling great, I think I could have made it, but I just kept getting injured. My body’s breaking down. The answer
is probably no, but if the offer is good enough, you never know,” said Angle.
Kurt Angle has fought with every major fighter of WWE and TNA. Back in the day, he used WWE’s main entertainer, especially during his fights against former WWE superstar and UFC champion Brock Lesnar. Although he is old and not in WWE anymore, he is still
respected by fans and fellow fighters alike.
For now, Angle believes his age does not allow him to challenge his body anymore. According to the former TNA champion, he would have been an MMA fighter, only if the industry was as popular as it is today back in those days.
