Kurt Maflin beats Jack Lisowski in Qualifiers Round 2 of China Open 2011 – Snooker news
Jack Lisowski has lost to Kurt Maflin by a frame score of 5-4 in a best-of-nine frame match of the qualifiers round 2 of the China Open 2011.
It was a fully stretched battle between the two players and probably one of the best matches of the first session.
Four century breaks from the players were produced during the match.
The overall score-line between the players was 59-62, 120-0, 0-95, 106-14, 17-115, 68-1, 68-61, 0-140, and 0-77.
First frame of between the players was a bit cagey as they were seen missing and also toiling for rhythm. The first chance in the opening frame fell for the teenager but he could not avail it. Although he was brought back on the table a couple of times again
from his opponent but he was not able to capitalise on the given chances. They were neck to neck all the way when finally Maflin took the first blood on the last black 1-0.
Lisowski, who has turned professional in 2010, in the second frame bounced back, with all of his zeal, energy and strength, and produced a magnificent break of 116 to level the things 1-1.
However, Maflin had no reeling effects from it as he also showed his break building skills in the next one. He made a classy break of 95 giving Lisowski no chance.
Both players showed spectacular game to the audience and the viewers.
The fourth and the fifth frames were over within a blink of an eye as there were two carving centuries made by Lisowski (106) and Maflin (115) respectively.
The frame score was 3-2 in favour of Maflin before Lisowski took two frames in a row and went ahead of his opponent by 4-3.
Lisowski was now looking only for one more frame to stand victorious before Maflin roared back and produced the match-highest and tournament break of 140 forcing the decider 4-4.
The deciding frame was also dominated by Maflin with a break of 76. In the last two frames, Jack was not given any chance to score even a single point.
Kurt Maflin has now reached round 3 where he will face Dave Harold. Hopefully, it is going to be another promising match.
