Kurt Suzuki sparks as Oakland Athletics defeat Baltimore Orioles 6-5 - MLB Update

Oakland Athletics’ catcher, Kurt Suzuki had a remarkable day with the bat as he hit two RBIs including two runs and went 2-for-3 with an average of .230 in the Athletics’ 6-5 win against the Baltimore Orioles at O.co Coliseum, Oakland on August 17.
During first inning, both teams scored their respective runs to move the score-board. At the top of first inning, Orioles added two runs while Athletics contributed three runs at the bottom of first inning to take an initial 3-2 lead. For Orioles, Adam Jones
hit a sacrifice fly towards centre-field and J.J. Hardy contributed one run.
Nick Markakis scored second run for Orioles when Vladimir Guerrero drove a double-run shot to deep left-centre. On the other side, Jemile weeks and Coco Crisp both added two consecutive runs for Athletics when Josh Willingham doubled to deep left-field.
Hideki Matsui took third run when Brandon Allen hit a sacrifice fly to right-field and Willingham moved towards third base to end the first inning.
Athletics got a 4-2 lead during second inning when Suzuki hit a one-run homer (378 feet) to left-field. In third inning, Allen hit a triple-run shot to deep centre-field and then posted one run on throwing error of Orioles’ centre-fielder Adam Jones to advance
the Athletics’ lead 5-2. The batters lost their momentum in fourth and fifth inning and played score-less shots.
Athletics’ starter, Brandon McCarthy was little bit shaky with the ball as he surrendered four runs, eight hits, two walks, one home-run and four earned runs in his six inning pitches. He pitched his respective throws with an ERA of 3.74 and struck-out three
batters on his 99 pitches.
In the sixth inning, Orioles scored one run to reduce their lead while Athletics raised their lead 6-3 by posting one run at the bottom of sixth inning. For the Orioles, Markakis hit a one-run homer (378 feet) to right-field. Suzuki struck his second homer
(393 feet) towards left-field to lift the Athletics’ potential.
Orioles added one run at the top of seventh inning to reduce their lead 6-4 when Josh Bell singled to right-field and Mark Reynolds scored one run. In ninth inning, Orioles further cut their deficit 6-5 when Robert Andino posted a single run and Blake Davis
was thrown out at home plate. As a result, Athletics sealed the three-game series 2-1 after having an exciting win.
