Kurt Thomas scores 22 as the Chicago Bulls knock down the Milwaukee Bucks
Joakim Noah, the Chicago Bulls centre went down with a hand injury leaving Kurt Thomas to defend his team at home court. Thomas didn’t disappoint. The reserve centre finished with 22 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists as the Chicago
Bulls downed the Milwaukee Bucks 92-83 on Monday night at United Center.
Although, he struggled yet again from the field, Derrick Rose added 21 points and 10 assists in the season’s 31st victory of the Bulls. Rose is 22-of-64 (34.3 percent) from the field in his last three games. Carlos Boozer
contributed 14 points and 9 rebounds while Luol Deng contributed nine points and seven rebounds in a starting role for the Bulls.
Rose appreciated the sizzling performance of Thomas as he said, “Kurt was hitting every shot, and my job is to give it to him,” “They were playing two people on me when I’d drive the ball, so I was throwing it to him every time.
Chris Douglas-Roberts scored a game-high 30 points for the Bucks, who have now lost back-to-back games and five of seven overall. Ersan Ilyasova ended with 17 points while Keyon Dooling totalled 13 points and 10 assists for Milwaukee,
who also got 18 rebounds from Andrew Bogut.
The Bulls outscored the Bucks on the free throw line. They made 22-of-25 attempts while the Bucks were able to score just eight points of the 11 available shots. The Bucks however moved the ball well in the opening quarter. They
got 10 points from Bogut in the first frame and took a 19-18 lead into the second.
The Bulls took over the game in the second quarter as Thomas nailed five of his six shots from the field. They thrashed the Bucks 29-14 and opened up a double digit lead. Rose finished the half with a layup at the buzzer, taking
a 43-32 lead into the locker room.
It was Bucks turn in the third quarter as Douglas-Roberts added 15 points on a 7-of-10 shooting and the Bucks trimmed their deficit to 6 points. However, the Bulls struck back and maintained a 68-58 advantage going into the final
stanza.
The Bulls went cold in the fourth, allowing the Bucks to make a comeback. The Bucks had a bit too much to cover and came as close as 7 before time ran out.
