“Everyone was standing behind him during a difficult period for him here. I never had the feeling that he wasn’t anything but happy at Liverpool.” He said.
Suarez has drawn interest from a number of clubs in Europe, including Paris Saint-Germain and some Italian clubs. The striker admitted that he would like to play for the French side but later announced that he had no plans of leaving Liverpool in the near
future. His decision was welcomed by Kuyt who hoped that the Uruguayan would stay at Merseyside for a long time.
“He’s said he’s more than happy to stay and hopefully he will stay here for a long time.” He said.
Kuyt backed the 20 million pound striker, who is currently short of goals, and said that the Reds ace will soon be back to his previous best.
Suarez scored Liverpool’s opening goal in the quarterfinal of the FA Cup and the Dutch hailed the performance of the striker in that match and termed his goal as ‘world class’. However, he said that people are bound to talk if a player does not score.
Meanwhile, Liverpool’s manager Kenny Dalglish has also expressed his satisfaction over Suarez’s desire to stay at Anfield. He joked that while the news of the player staying with the Reds is encouraging for the club’s fans, it might be bad news for other
teams in the Premier League.
