The out of favour Liverpool forward http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dirk-Kuyt-c11348 quashed the rumours surrounding his possible return to Feyenoord in the summer, citing financial reasons behind the failure of the move to go ahead.
The 31-year old is expected to part ways with the Merseyside club, after reportedly expressing his apprehensions over the management’s decision not to involve him in the Reds regular starting eleven during the last season. According to some surmises, the
Dutch International has been strongly linked to clubs from across Europe, with his former employers Feyenoord and the BundesLiga side Hamburg being the most notable suitors to have taken interest in him.
Earlier, Kuyt admitted to have met the representatives from both the clubs, and viewed a move to Germany as an interesting option.
However, while talking to the media recently, the forward seemed to have closed the Feyenoord chapter once and for all after mentioning that he failed to reach to an agreement with them on the subject of his salary, and he did not want to burden the Dutch
outfit by demanding a wage beyond their reach.
While talking to reporters, he said: “I have had several conversations with Feyenoord but we were unable to agree. I did not want on my conscience that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Feyenoord-c39258 would have financial problems because of my salary.”
“There were too many doubts on both sides. I've thought about it, but it is not the time to return.”
Kuyt was signed by the ex Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez from Feyenoord in August 2006. At the time of his arrival, the Dutchman had revealed that his decision to leave the Dutch side came only because he wanted to be a part of a club as big as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809.
He was an instant success at Anfield, firing 14 goals during his first full season at Anfield. In total, he has made 276 appearances for the Reds over a period of six years and netted 71 goals.
However, the forward remained a victim of neglect under Kenny Dalglish, since the arrival of the club’s new signings last year. The Scott used to give preference to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Craig-Bellamy-c9471, who played at the same position as Kuyt, ahead of the
Dutchman; a decision which did not go to well with him.
Nevertheless, Kuyt mentioned that he is yet to reach to a final decision over his possible destination in the coming term, and has been approached by different European clubs.
He remarked, “There are many clubs who are interested. Not only from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926.”
Kuyt’s contract with the Reds is set to expire by the end of 2012/13 campaign.
