Kveta Peschke and Katarina Srebotnik back in the business – Tennis News
Number one team of 2011, Kveta Peschke and Katarina Srebotnik, are back on track after staying out of action for majority of this season. They made a remarkable start with a title in Apia Sydney International but faced a major
blow when the latter player incurred hip injury that forced them out of the Australian Open in the second round.
The injured player, Srebotnik was disappointed to have let down her partner but it was not her fault and she could do nothing about that. These things happen naturally to players but it hurts the most when they halt the supreme
run of play and forced players to regain the same form after a lengthy lay-off.
In an interview, she said, “Obviously it was bad luck to get injured in a major and after such a good start to the year too. We were on a good track to continue the momentum we had last year, but then that happened. I was out for
eight weeks - and unfortunately there were other very important tournaments in that time, and it was tough to watch all the other teams playing them while we weren't able to. The hip is all good now. I try to take as many positives out of this as I can - I've
had some rest time, I'm mentally fresh and energized, and ready to compete again.”
She knew it was difficult to capture the same run of form but both players had to forger everything and leave it in the past to move on. Otherwise, they will just let them down and not be able to lead themselves to anymore titles
this season. There’s immense time tennis left in 2012 to be played and they can easily catch up to their prolific game play in the meantime.
The Slovenian tennis ace was very happy with the help her partner gave her during the tough time. The Czech tennis ace, Peschke, was very kind to her all the time and eased her nerves. Both players knew that the comeback match
is always a nervous one but they will make sure that they co-ordinate well and regain the form as soon as possible. They reached the quarter-final stage of the Family Circle Cup in Charleston, earlier this month. It must have boosted their morale and their
enthusiasm to win more titles. They will be playing the Stuttgart tournament that will commence from next week.
