  1. w/kw=2/k+1-k        think about it w/kw=k

    k=2/k+1-k        0=(2/k+1-k)/k

    0=2/k^2+(1/2)-1     0=2/k^2-(1/2)

    1/2=2/k^2        (1/2)k^2=2    k^2=2/(1/2)

    k^2=4     take square root of both sides

    k=2

  2. k+w/kw=2/k+1

    I have to make guesses about where the parans go...

    also, I'll solve for k not K

    k+(w/kw) = (2/k) +1

    k+(1/k) = (2/k) +1

    mult by k

    k² + 1 = 2 + k

    k² - k - 1 = 0

    use quadratic equation:

    k = [1 ±√(1²+4)] / 2

    k = [1 ±√5] / 2

    k = ½ ± ½√5
