  1. My sons have raced 125cc for the last few years and my youngest who is 15 has always been very light for the bike and even now only weighs 48kilos.  He has to get his suspension done with the lightest spring possible for his weight and the other people that he races against are generally at least 58 kilos.  What is ideal I don't know.

As for how the bike handles for his weight and height as he would now be about 5'5 tall.  On a race where skills come in he is usually out in front but if the track gets too rough he tends to get thrown around a lot more than the heavier riders.  We put a damper on his bikes to try and help with the bike steering and this has helped heaps.  he did have trouble on start lines that have concrete as being so light the back wheel tended to spin which meant that he wasnt getting away quickly enough but his trainer showed him where to put his weight on the bike to compensate for that and I don't remember a recent race that he hasnt holeshoted.

Even now at 15 he still has to use a block for starting especially on his 250cc.  I also remember one race meet where he had just gone up a age group and we have photos of him on the line.  He was so much smaller than all the other riders that the starting official told him that he was at the wrong start and we had to clarify that he was meant to race that section.  he then went out and showed then that he really was meant to be there by doing well.

Dont know if this has helped or not.  Enjoy your bike

Sorry won't post pics of him on here as this is a strange place!
