Kyle Amor of Leeds Rhinos joins Wakefield Trinity Wildcats for three years - Rugby
On Monday, October 3rd, Kyle Amor of Leeds Rhinos inked a three-year deal with the Wakefield Trinity Wildcats, with an option to re-sign with Leeds.
The contract is also unique because the Rhinos have included a clause that allows Leeds to take the player back into their squad. In order to do this they will have to inform Wildcats at the latest by July, next season. In that case, Amor will walk out of
his remaining two years to join in with Leeds.
While speaking about Amor’s growth as a rugby league player, Brian McDermott, the Rhinos coach, stated that Kyle has grown tremendously from his time at Wakefield this season and knowing his future is secure will help improve his game great deal.
The Chief Executive of Rhinos, Gary Hetherington added, "We bought Kyle from Whitehaven to be a Rhinos player in the future and this season he has gained valuable experience at Wakefield Trinity Wildcats, where he has established himself as a formidable
forward. We could have brought him back for next season to compete with our current crop of props but we think it's in everyone's best interests for him to continue his development at Wakefield and we will take a view mid-way through next season."
Amor’s shift to Wildcats appeared more like a mutual decision between him and his former club, Leeds. Everyone at the club seemed satisfied with the deal.
While speaking about his new agreement with the club, the prop further added that he really liked his stint at Leeds and acknowledged that the Wildcats helped him grow as a player.
Reaching a mutual agreement on the player’s immediate future, Amor was happy to continue representing Wakefield for at least next year. Only time will tell if the player will be called back the Rhinos or keep his place with the Wildcats after one year.
