Kyle Amor signs unique deal with Wildcats and secures his future - Rugby League News
Kyle Amor of Leeds Rhinos, who has spent the last one year on loan to the Wakefield Trinity Wildcats, has sealed a new deal with the club on Monday, October 3. Amor’s future contract will see him with the Wildcats for another year at least with the option
for Leeds to pre-empt his three-year contract.
While speaking about his recently inked agreement with Wakefield, Amor stated, “I am really looking forward to another season with the Wildcats. My future is now secure and I can concentrate on playing well all season for Wakefield. I’ve loved being at Wakefield
this year and can’t wait to get started with the new coach and the new players.”
The player’s year at Wakefield saw him scoring a total of five tries in 24 appearances that he made throughout the season. The end of the season greeted him with the honour of the Player of the Year award.
The chief executive of Wildcats, James Elston, added, “This is a unique deal to be done between both clubs. It is great that Kyle will be classed as Wakefield player and if Leeds do not recall him, I am looking forward to seeing Kyle impress at the prop
forward role for the next three seasons here.” He also expressed his gratitude to Gary Hetherington at the Rhinos, without whose co-operation the deal seemed too farfetched an option.
According to the new three-year agreement, the player will play at least one more year at Wakefield, along with the option granted to the Rhinos to take the prop back in the squad for the upcoming two years.
Meanwhile, Josh Griffin, who was also serving his loan period with Wildcats after coming in from Huddersfield Giants this season, was released by the club today.
However, Amor’s long term future is not clear after two years. He may end up with either Leeds or he may get extended with the Wildcats. Where ever he may end up, the player is happy to have a contract that lets him know he will be playing rugby in the near
future.
